When Procrastination Becomes Productive

The definition of procrastination is doing one thing to delay doing something else.

Usually this means tidying the house, baking treats, going for a jog, surfing the internet, or binging TV on Netflix while avoiding an all-important task. None of those are actually bad ways to burn time, but they don’t tend to get books written.

Over the summer, while I was waiting on edits for everything and news from my agent about FREE FALL, I started working on a short story. It was a silly idea brought on by the absolutely awful Christmas in July ads and the people who insisted on counting down to Christmas before August even rolled around.

I’m not a fan of winter holidays and I really don’t want my summer marred by the memory of an expensive, freezing, stressful time of the year when we could all be focusing on getting to the beach between hurricanes.

So I scribbled down a short story about a girl who hates December holidays as much as I do. And then it started growing. And somehow it crawled over the 10,000 word count. And kept going past 20,000 words. And, before I knew it, I had a novella!

A silly, self-indulgent novella about Christmas in Miami and a main character who loves werewolves and cheesy horror movies.

And then I mentioned it to my editor at Inkprint Press.

And now we’re picking out cover art.

So… oops!

I wrote a new book!

Pre-orders will be available later this month and ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A WEREWOLF will be available December 3rd, 2019.

If you want to read one of the early drafts of the first chapter you can find it over on Patreon.
