Did I even do a birthday post last year?
I don’t remember.
But here we are, in 2020 (pause to curse this year) and I’ve been neglecting my blog all summer so here’s my catch up of where I am… I’m a live. That’s important in a day and age when too many people are dead and some of them are still tweeting (*side-eyes Herman). January and February were almost normal, and then my family went into quarantine 13-March and we haven’t left yet. Aside from curbside pick-up for things and the required grocery runs we’ve been inside. So… no cons, Ren Fairs, or adventures to report this year.
What has happened?
CHANGE OF MOMENTUM came out in April – finally! And is doing fabulous.
I wrote a fantasy novel called SLAVE OF BONE during lock down, which is GAME OF THRONES meets AVATAR: The Last Airbender but add more women and make the magic enhanced by soulmates.
I pitched a new novel called TO TOUCH THE FURTHEST STAR to my agent in January and I think it’s out on an editor’s desk, so maybe I’ll get to talk about it some time.
My oldest daughter turned 18 this summer. She repeated first grade so she has one more year of high school, but we’re actively hunting for colleges and WOW! I remember my hunt for college and it didn’t seen that long ago.
I finally hit the point where I can sound out words in the Korean alphabet, and my ASL is improving.
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A REAPER is coming out in December (fingers-crossed, I still need to survive editing).
Overall, it feels like it’s been a good year even if it’s been very chaotic and unexpected. I’m sad I’m not going to cons and seeing everyone. I’m disappointed that publishing has been sluggish. I have hope that everything’s going to get better and come together in the new year.
Here’s to another trip around the sun!
