Springtime Is Almost Here!

As you may have guessed from following me all these years I am not a big fan of winter. (Do you remember the Alaska years? I remember the Alaska years. *shudders*) The cold weather knocks me down and I want to hibernate. I sit in my office, under a blanket, with the tiny space heater running and the house thermostat set as high as I can turn it up as I dream about spring.

But spring is almost here!

Well… fine, in all honestly I live in Korea and spring is about four weeks away. The RoK loves to follow the actual seasonal schedule so winter runs from mid-December to mid-March. But! It’s above freezing for the second day in a row and we are going to pretend that means spring is almost here. Longer days. More sunlight. And, with any luck, a happier brain are all on the agenda.

Spring is the season of fresh starts, new beginnings, and, curiously enough, the time I’m most likely to pitch new projects to my literary agent. This year’s offerings include a new scifi romance centered around a dating show on a space station, and a romantasy that starts with a princess dreading an unwanted marriage.

Headed to my editor’s desk this year are the 2025 All I Want book, ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A MERMAID, and the third Fleet of Malik book, FOR EVERY ACTION.

Just for fun, and just for you, here are the opening lines for each of these books. Let me know what you’re excited to read!

All I Want For Christmas Is A Mermaid:
Smoke hung in the rafters over the bar in Jenni’s Spot like a bad memory.

For Every Action:
An air of busyness swirled around the Wellden central police station like a fog. People rushed to and fro between offices with tinted glass walls. If they slowed a little as they passed the detective’s cubicle, well, that was not worth mentioning.

SFR Dating Show Book:
Cerulean blue waves crashed arrhythmically against a white rock wall. No, that was wrong. There were no waves on Saturn.

Romantasy Book:
A warm breeze danced across crashing waves bringing the scent of wood smoke and spice that made the markets on the distant horizon seem far closer than they were.
