Somehow I blinked and we went from early May to mid-June.
School has ended. The college kids are home on break. We’re packing bags. There’s a possibility that my kids will see four countries in the next four weeks (and three of them are guaranteed three countries in three weeks). Life is busy here in the Brooks’ Household.
So here’s the very quick catch-up post of what I’m doing…
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A CRYPTID is back from my beta readers and will be on my editor’s desk by 1-July. It’s sitting at around 30,000 words (typical length for one of the holiday novellas) and does not have an entire language lesson in the back like ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A GARGOYLE. The majority of the novel is in English. You’re welcome.
The release date is 2-DEC-24 and there will probably be a Kickstarter for signed special editions and gift boxes. Once I have dates for that I will share on the blog and newsletter.
The 2025 holiday book will be ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS A MERMAID and set in Louisiana (USA) and Sydney (Australia) because I decided the Cajuns and Bogans needed to meet. And, if you don’t know those words, don’t worry you will learn them by the end of 2025.
The next Fleet Of Malik book is also sitting at 30,000 words (out of probably 120,000) and is due to my editor before December 15th. That should come out in about 12 months actually. *tries not to panic over deadlines*
Because of family demands (Meemaw is 91, has a lump in her lung, and needs me more than readers) I won’t be planning to attend any cons this year. However, if you’re in Seoul, let me know and we can catch lunch and walk around some of my favorite areas downtown.
And, last but not least, Kobo Readers… the Time & Shadows series is on sale for the month of June so grab yourself some murder-y goodness and catch up with Sam and Mac as they try to save the world (or at least their little corner of it).
If you’re not a Kobo reader, you are of course more than welcome to pick the books up from where ever you buy books. All my titles are listed on Books2Read.
