I couldn’t go, I needed to finish the edits for DECOHERENCE. And editing isn’t easy. See all that red? That’s the opening chapters of DECOHERENCE during the first round of the fright-fest that is editing.
A lot of non-writers think editing a novel is like editing a paper for school: you select the font, run spell check, and add page numbers. It’s not like that at all. It’s time-consuming, sometimes frustrating, and it often feels like for every page you edit two more appear at the end of the book. Editing a full-length novel on a deadline can easily consume your life.
DECOHERENCE consumed mine. And that’s why there was a sudden drop in blog posts. The manuscript is back with my editor now, and I seriously don’t have any idea what to do. I suspect the mountain of laundry will be the first task I tackle. After that? Who knows!?!
