Life is funny. As a child, Australia was a far-away fairyland that seemed as reachable as Narnia or Middle-Earth. AND NOW I’M HERE!!!
Way, way back in 2006-ish I was on the online writing group called Critique Circle and met an Aussie author named Amy Laurens. She was finishing college, I had just finished. We were both fairly new to our marriages and adulthood. We bonded over a love for sci-fi, Jane Austen, and this new author named Ilona Andrews who was simply fantastic.
Nearly twenty years I finally managed to find a way to get our family down to visit Amy’s family (hint: it involved moving to Seoul first). And now I’m in Australia! In the magic land of kangaroos and wild cockatoos!
And I am taking a break while I’m here. I’m mostly offline, not really checking emails. Not worrying about books or word count.
Sales will happen on their own. Writing can wait until the new year. Word counts are a worry for January-Me.
Right now I’m enjoying the second summer of 2023, spending time with dear friends, and remembering what it is to be Liana without the deadlines.
